BEAM Biomedical Engineering
Biomedical Engineering  is a discipline  aiming at exploiting engineering knowhow and technologies to the advancement of medical and biological sciences.
It is a multidisciplinary research and development activity  investigating a variety of fields such as bioinformatics, medical imaging, image processing, physiological signal processing, biomechanics, biomaterials and bioengineering, systems analysis, 3D modeling,  pharmaceutical drugs release etc. and combines them to improve  solutions related to  diagnostics and  patient health care and  develop technologies to investigate on complex causes of disease and their impact on humans.
Possible applications of biomedical engineering are the development and manufacture of biocompatible prostheses, medical devices, diagnostic devices and imaging equipments and pharmaceutical drugs.

This project has been funded with support from
the European Commission and the Australian Government
and implemented by the University of Trento and Queensland University of Technology.
